Will the so-called "Antifa apocalypse" come with a bang or a whimper?

A series of anti-government, leftist rallies set to descend on major cities nationwide Saturday is drawing the attention of local officials, who, like the organizers themselves, fear the events could be hijacked by violent masked anarchists.

The left-wing "Refuse Fascism" group is using Nov. 4 as its kickoff for demonstrations in nearly two dozen U.S. cities, protests it says will continue "day after day and night after night ─ not stopping ─ until our DEMAND is met."

The "DEMAND" is the removal of President Trump and Vice President Pence

The gatherings are being described as a kind of "Antifa apocalypse" on right-wing media, according to The Washington Post. Several sites are expressing particular alarm about the loosely-defined left-leaning group, which preaches a version of ferocious anti-government chaos that often uses "domestic terrorist violence," according to a recent FBI report.

FBI, DHS: Watch Out For More Antifa Attacks

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) warned violent attacks by the radical group antifa have increased, and more assaults could be on the way.

The DHS and the FBI have concluded that far-left “anarchist extremist” groups were mainly responsible for inciting violence at a number of public rallies, under the cause of opposing fascism, according to a Friday report.

“It was in that period [as the Trump campaign emerged] that we really became aware of them,” a senior law enforcement official told Politico. “These antifa guys were showing up with weapons, shields and bike helmets and just beating the shit out of people. They’re using Molotov cocktails, they’re starting fires, they’re throwing bombs and smashing windows.”

There are dozens of armed antifa groups that have emerged across the country and the government is aware, according to government reports. Their clashes with the far-right have become more frequent and more violent in recent months. (RELATED: Brutal Examples Of Violence That Occurred By Both Sides In Charlottesville [VIDEO]

It’s an orchestrated dance. The rallies spill over into social media and then even more people show up at the next rally primed for violent confrontation,” a former New York City police officer and domestic terror expert Brian Levin said.

The news comes on the heels of antifa violence that erupted against peaceful supporters of Donald Trump and others antifa accused of, often falsely, being white supremacists or Nazis, The L.A. Times reported.

Federal authorities have been warning state and local officials since early 2016 that leftist extremists known as “antifa” had become increasingly confrontational and dangerous, so much so that the Department of Homeland Security formally classified their activities as “domestic terrorist violence,” according to interviews and confidential law enforcement documents obtained by POLITICO.
